Studios claim that the PS5 Pro should not exist

 


In recent weeks we have had a large number of rumors about a possible improved model of the PlayStation 5. Among the leaks, the supposed specifications of the console were released, which according to IGN, are real.

So far, Sony has not confirmed whether it intends to launch the PS5 Pro, but it seems that even before this supposed console was launched, several studios stated that the PS5 Pro should not exist.

According to new information shared by GamesIndustry's Christopher Dring, he claims that during his conversations at GDC 2024, several studios feel that the PS5 Pro is unnecessary and many of them feel that they are not even taking full advantage of the potential of the standard PS5.


"Developers don't really seem to feel like they need the PS5 Pro, at least those I've spoken to. Many of them feel like they're not even taking full advantage of the potential of the standard PS5."

Christopher Dring states that during conversations with developers, the real feeling is that the generation hasn't even started yet, due to the pandemic. So releasing a PS5 Pro wouldn't help the gaming industry at all.

In any case, the PS5 Pro is still just a rumor and so far Sony has not made any official announcement about the new console model.

PS2 sold 160 million units

 The PlayStation 2 is to date Sony's biggest success and the best-selling console of all time. Embracer sold Gearbox for $460 million to Take-Two
