Borderlands 4 is officially confirmed by 2K
Hours ago, information came out that Embracer Group sold Gearbox for $460 million to the giant Take-Two, which owns many well-known companies, such as 2K and Rockstar Games.
In the statement, it was confirmed that in addition to purchasing Gearbox, Take-Two now also owns successful franchises such as Borderlands, Homeworld, Risk of Rain, Brothers in Arms and Duke Nukem.
At the same time, in the statement, 2K confirmed once and for all that Borderlands 4 and another game in the franchise are in development, although it did not reveal any additional details.
"Gearbox currently has six key interactive entertainment projects in various stages of development, including five sequels, two of which are from the Borderlands and Homeworld franchises, and at least one exciting new intellectual property. In addition to these plans, Take-Two believes that there are incremental opportunities to invest in new projects and expand Gearbox's proven franchises."
2K's current president, David Ismailer, also issued a statement about his experience working in partnership with Gearbox over the past few years and again confirmed the new Borderlands.
"With nearly 20 years of history working together, Gearbox has played a pivotal role in our success, given their unique ability to create interactive entertainment experiences that feature beloved characters, exciting new worlds and humorous narratives.
"We are thrilled to welcome Randy Pitchford and his team of talented and passionate developers to 2K, and we look forward to launching countless projects in the future as colleagues. We have loved collaborating with Gearbox on each iteration of the Borderlands franchise and are We're excited to be in active development on the next installment in the franchise."
Apparently, Borderlands 4 has been in development for a long time, so it's only a matter of time before the project gets its first official details, and of course, is definitively announced with videos and more.
